We are excited to announce the imminent birth of a litter of black pups due late June, thus ready for their new families in late August. (The puppies pictured above are from a 2018 litter, but are shown just in case you need a visual ;)

Both parents ( Click here to see Donaghy; here for Maggie; and refer to the slideshow below) are lovely souls: beautiful, affectionate, and intelligent, and the scion of a long heritage of thoughtful breeding for conformation, disposition, and health.

These pups will be raised with care, cleanliness, and security in an indoor, climate-controlled environment where they'll be attended to as they mature, receiving developmental levels of socialization that entails daily handling, graduated introduction of novelty, noise desensitization, and controlled outside visits. By eight weeks of age, we'll have administered three de-wormings and the initial round of puppy vaccines. At pick-up we send puppies home with a portfolio, microchip, written health contract, health records, pre-paid AKC registration, care guidelines, a supply kit of sundries, and a week's worth of quality kibble (we feed Victor Hi Pro-Plus to our pups).

After pups are born and availability in terms of sex is established, deposits of $1000 towards the full purchase price will determine order of choice. Initial deposits are non-refundable but transfer in perpetuity should a family need to defer adoption for extenuating circumstances.  The balance is due at pickup.

As the pups grow, I send out weekly Puppy Reports with pictures and details so that your family can enjoy their maturation until adoption at 8 weeks. While pre-established order of choice structures the selection process, we offer information and insight on disposition, energy level, and attention valence-- as requested-- to families to assist in the selection process of individual pups.

We welcome any questions that you have and are glad to provide further details: LoblollyLabradors@gmail.com
If in your inquiry, you would share details of your family and intentions, we would be appreciative as it's important to us that each Lab pup go to a conscientious home where it will be valued as an integral member of the family.

Best regards,
Eve & Chris Farrell

Seeking home for Windancing retiree

As part of our way of doing things here at Loblolly, we always ask adopting families to agree to contact us should life circumstances bring about a change that means their Labrador needs a different placement, and they do not have a support network that can provide such. Thus, we have now with us an eight year old female named Sara who is in need of a new family home. Sara's former caregiver has passed on, and while we were glad to welcome her here for as long as need be, it would be nice for Sara to have a new family where she's the center of attention again.

Sara is spry; she is accustomed to the run of six acres adjacent to 200, chasing after the Gator and foraying in the creek. At the same time, she is a mature soul, so a day of meandering around means nice easy evenings laying on the floor. Sara gets along fine with dogs her size who carry themselves with some dignity and she seems to appreciate all humans, although we do not think that she's been around very small children.

Sara is crate, leash, and house trained. She is not destructive but she does prefer couches for slumbering as versus hard floors. She is on heartworm and flea prevention.

Sara's placement fee is $500. We ask that anyone inquiring about her provide details of their circumstances regarding children, other dogs, and access to dog exercise space: LoblollyLabradors@gmail.com

Thanks so much for visiting us, and take care.

Tobin, young red female available for adoption

4/3/2021

Everyone... Tobin has gone to her new family now. Thanks so much for your inquiries. Please continue to check back with us for updates on availability. Best regards! Eve

Hello, and thank you for your interest in Loblolly Labradors.

We are currently offering for adoption a 22 month old, light red female by the name of Tobin (all the pups in her litter were named to celebrate the winning 2019 USA Women's World Cup team :) She honors Forward Tobin Heath.

Fittingly, Tobin is a very athletic and intelligent dog, a loving and big-hearted soul, and an inveterate retriever. We are seeking a family that can invite her into their home as a lifelong companion and promise to throw the ball for her faithfully. This last point is non-negotiable according to Tobin.

A few details about Tobin:
  • While technically a yellow Lab, Tobin is considered a "light red" on that spectrum (think platinum blond to auburn as permissible bookends to shades of yellow in the breed). Her father is Donaghy and mother Octavia. We are placing her as we have a few too many Donaghy progeny, so have to make some hard decisions to decrease our population size. We feel Tobin has the confidence and training to adjust well to a family situation, and as she is especially affectionate, will revel in the individual attention. When she is petted, invariably she lies down and asks for a belly rub. Tobin is relaxed around people, but she is a child of covid, so her experience off of our property is limited to forays for rabies vaccines. Each time she did fine, but I would expect that she may need patience to navigate flawlessly busy in-door public situations.
  • Tobin is 70-75 lbs, micro-chipped, on flea and heart worm prevention, and up to date on vaccinations with a current rabies tag.
  • Tobin crates and leashes well. She knows basic commands such as "no" "sit" "ok" "kennel" (the latter is a direction for her to enter any door).  In the house she is not destructive but does enjoy walking around and investigating, so a toy basket is ideal for her curiosity. She will do best with a family that has attention to offer, not because she is clingy, but because she is people-oriented and wants to be included in family affairs.
  • Tobin has a medium build and sound lineage that equip her well for a long active life that includes daily walks and/or hiking, but we do not recommend that she, or any English Labrador for that matter, be jogged habitually as their joints are engineered for field and gun activities, which basically means sitting patiently and retrieving on command.
  • Tobin is ready to be spayed. As per best practices, we always recommend that folks wait until a Labrador has reached maturity before fixing. She has had two seasons now, and while she will continue to fill out with age, she is fully developed, so the timing is appropriate (delayed spay/neuter protects long term joint health).
  • Upon placement, she goes home with a portfolio including pedigrees, proof of AKC registration, breed information, developmental guidelines, health records (including rabies tag), and a week's supply of the kibble she currently eats and which we recommend: Victor Professional.
Please email us at LoblollyLabradors@gmail.com for inquires about Tobin.

Thanks again for your time and consideration. The best of health to you and your family,

Eve and Christopher Farrell

One Year Old Male Available for Adoption

Everyone, thank you for your inquiries. Sturgil has joined his new family. Please contact us directly if you are looking for a more mature Lab, as occasionally we do have one for adoption. Eve

Hello, thank you for visiting and allow us to introduce Loblolly's Blackslider's Wine, or our boy "Sturgil," as we affectionately call him (we do live near Nashville after all ;)

We are proud yet heart heavy to offer him for he is a beautiful and loved member of our family, and although only one year old, well on his way to becoming a well appointed adult. Finding the balance of offering each Lab at our home quality care and attention, however, versus making the necessary logistical maneuvers for the continuation of the Loblolly line sometimes means that we have to make hard decisions we would rather not... given all the time and money and space in the world-- Sturgil would stay right here at Loblolly. But, we do not have any of those, and Sturgil deserves more individual attention than we can give him right now. As a one year old he is still very much an adolescent and highly adaptable to rhythms of a new forever home. Think of him as essentially still a child.

Things you should know about Sturgil:
  • His parents are Jubal and Donaghy, the cross of whom has produced many wonderful adults. We have four of Sturgil's full siblings: that is how much we believe in the quality of this pairing.
  • His parents are both screened through OFA for hip and elbow health as well as genetically cleared for EIC & PRA. The one sibling of his that we have who is old enough for OFA certification is EXCELLENT on hips and NORMAL on elbows. Sturgil moves smoothly and is very athletic, so we have no concerns about his soundness.
  • Sturgil is an intelligent and friendly dog. He is well-socialized around other dogs. He does like to rough-house outside with any willing playmate, but it is not aggressive, just for fun.
  • Sturgil is a child of the quarantine, thus he has not been out in the world much, and is a bit shy in public settings with large sliding doors and slippery floors. He'll need more experience here.
  • He rides in cars fine and accepts a crate. He walks on leash with no pulling.
  • He carries himself well in the house and is neither rambunctious nor destructive. He is fine to be outside in the daytime in a fenced yard, but we want him in a situation where he is inside every night with his family.
  • If he is outside in the daytime alone, please know that Sturgil is smart and a jumper: he can scale a 4 ft fence.
  • Sturgil is up to date on his vaccines, rabies, Heartworm preventative. He is microchipped and flea free.
  • Sturgil is not neutered, and we will not place him with a family who will not agree to refrain from neutering him until 20 months of age or later. Labrador retrievers who are allowed to develop naturally into adulthood intact have better outcomes with long term hip and elbow health. This contingency is not negotiable and a function of caring about what is best for Sturgil's long term wellness.

We are glad to answer any questions that you might have about Sturgil. Please contact us at LoblollyLabradors@gmail.com

Thanks for visiting us, and take care out there.
